It isn't usually too too bad after games--but there's that construction on 95 that is absolutely killer. I really can't emphasize enough how horrible it is. Going both to and from the games.

Getting 295 opened at the Casino has been a big blessing for getting through the area.

What a screwed up mess that has been, there at Russell Street.

We had one game of 15K, on a Monday night, the first day of the new school year, and following a road trip that TONS of Orioles fans went on.

Its fairly obvious the Orioles marketing department sucks and they should be replaced, and us fans should be highly embarrassed by our inaction last night.

I know you were being a tongue in cheek here but there is some room for the O's to be a bit creative with their marketing.

As several have mentioned in this thread, despite being on our way to our 1st postseason in over a decade, attendance did slump in late August/early September 2012. To their credit, the O's responded with the "throwback" pricing in select sections and it helped a bit on weeknights and vs "boring" opponents like Tampa.

I don't think along the lines of the low attendance last night being a black mark on the fanbase or even the organizaion. I do however believe that the O's organization has enough evidence of attendance patterns to know when they should do certain things to boost ticket sales.

First day back to school+playing the Rays=poor attendance. If you're not doing a giveaway, you should do something with ticket prices well in advance to help get people out. I definitely think the O's dropped the ball to a certain degree here.

It is a bit embarrassing, but I must admit that I kind of like the smaller crowds. Easier access to the centerfield bar, the restroom, concessions, and of course the beer stands.

This is the time of year where I find myself attending almost every game because I need to use dollar replay tickets from my season plan.

If anyone is considering getting a season plan next year, I highly recommend getting 2 seats instead of one. If you do that, you always have an extra for a friend. If you don't find someone to use it, then the Orioles allow you to use unredeemed tickets to buy either an upper deck ticket for $1 or a left field box ticket for $8. This is known as DOLLAR REPLAY!! You can't do dollar replay on any Saturday game or games against the Red Sox and Yankees.

For this year, the dollar replay games left are tonight and tomorrow against the Rays, Friday, Sunday and Monday against the Twins, Tuesday-Thursday against the Reds and Sept. 15-17 against the Blue Jays.

The game on Monday was the best $1 I ever spent. We were in the left field box about two sections in from the left field foul pole. The most impressive shot out of the five hit was the bomb by Steve Pearce. That thing left the ballpark in about half a second. Delmon's was also absolutely crushed. Good times!!!

I suspect that there are more than a few people out there who are depleted emotionally and financially from a road trip to Chicago. A "hangover" from a Chicago road trip also probably contributes to the poor attendance figures this week.

When the Orioles are in the ALDS, ALCS and World Series, I doubt we will have an issue with the attendance totals.

I'm going to a couple of games next month when I visit home... looking forward to it. :)

I think you're going to see top tier crowds at OPACY to close the season. Can't wait!

I don't know if they would draw better but some teams have better promotions. The Nats, last week had $5.00 tickets during the week against the Diamondbacks. Also coupons in the Washington Post for $1.00 hot dogs, ice cream and soda. Also had $1.00 hot dog day and $5.00 beer day. They have more coming up in September.

Also received this in my email from the Reds:

REDS SEPTEMBER PASS

ENJOY 13 REDS GAMES FOR ONE LOW PRICE!

For just $65, the Reds September Pass gets you a View Level Line ticket to all 13 September home games! That's just $5 per game to see the Reds take on the division-rival Cardinals, Brewers and Pirates, and an exciting weekend series against the Mets.

Plus, your Reds September Pass includes two Fireworks Fridays, the Reds Stein giveaway, Fan Appreciation Day and more!

You nailed this one. In 2012, with the O's in their first pennant race in 15 years, I recall Adam Jones saying something to effect of "Only 10,000 tonite? Ok..." and it was the first week of school. The Orioles had the exact same situation here, and didn't respond appropriately. Not necessarily to say they would have 30k there, but they know this week their target audience is people without kids. Target the promotions this week to catch those folks' eyes.

This post is not directed at anyone specifically.

I go to the games I want, when I want. That usually amount to 3 per year and I watch about 130 games on TV. I dont really like trying to make people feel like they are less of fans because they dont go to the yard as much. I dont think anyone should be in a position to say what is or isnt a valid reason for not going to games. Let people do what they want to do. I love seeing big crowds at the yard as much as the next guy. I'm just not going to throw any judgement at those who don't go as much.

From an O's marketing standpoint, if you want more people at the games, give them more incentives. There are a million ways to incentivise people to go to the yard.

Question for the hangout....what generates more revenue for a MLB team: TV or Gate? I feel like watching them on TV is what helped these new TV contracts get so large and really propel the salaries of the players and revenue for the owners.
