I don't see it. Joseph played great defensively. A big problem is if you bring him up then you limit your depth. You can't option Arencibia so let's say he makes the team then at some point gets released, if another team picks him up then your depth is diminished. The only way I see him making the team is if Wieters isn't ready.

Arencibia is a good defender, also.

I don't really see it as limiting your depth. If Arencibia is really bad enough to get released, he's not exactly good depth anyway. And you will still have Lavarnway and Ward at AAA no matter what.

I think there is a pretty decent chance. Joseph has options, and I could see Clevenger being DFA'ed and Arencibia getting the back-up role by the end of camp.

I dont think we will ever see Clevenger being back behind the plate in an Oriole Uniform in a regular season game.

Arencibia seemingly has more pop but that is about it. And who knows what Caleb could do in his second year of big league experience. Caleb's CS rate of 40% trumps Arencibia's 26%.

I agree. I just find the way they are handling it interesting, especially since Yoon is a Boras client. I think at this point we all hope he goes back to the KBO and forfeits the rest of his contract.

He sucks and doesn't deserve an invite to ST.

He has zero chance of making the big league club this year.

I don't see him giving up the $$$ and going back. He goes back when he is cut and the team is still liable for payment.

Well that would be horrible since his freshman year offensive stats werent so good. I thought he had turned a corner in July and August, and then he put together a Sept and Oct that consisted of a .087 average. One of the many reasons why the Os offense went from good to cant score.

I'm a big Joseph supporter and I think Buck is too. Buck seems to value defense at catcher over anything else. Joseph's pitch framing is a bonus. If Joseph can put up a .650 OPS, I think he'll be the starter in 2016. Some other team can pay $15 mill/yr for Weiters barely breaking .700 OPS.

Just based on casual observation when he was with the Jays, I never thought Arrencibia was a good defensive catcher. I acknowledge there are some stats to suggest he's decent.

The Orioles need Clevenger to become some type of late-blooming all-star if they want any chance of eventually winning the Scott Feldman trade.

I always assumed he was a poor defender, and I don't know if that's because when he was a prospect all anyone mentioned was his power potential, or if it was because of actual observations I made watching.
