Of the 4 options that we had, I wanted to save Joe Gunkel and Ariel Miranda, because they are potential long-term prospects.

Terry Doyle and Chris Jones ARE NOT potential long -term prospects, so throwing them to the proverbial wolves would not have been a big deal, and I don't believe that either of them could have been any worse than Gonzalez has been as of late.

And it was a good suggestion then, but you would have had to take someone off the 25 man roster to do it.

Now you don't even have that issue.
