Buck didn't use his bench.

If you score 6 runs, you should win. So, yeah.

That's one of the worst losses in recent memory. Took the lead several times and the pitching couldn't keep it. That's the type of games you need to win because making the playoffs will come down to a game or two at most.

Yup. Can't afford to lose these games. If you get blown out, you just shake it off and move on. But, losing winnable games, especially in this fashion against a bad team, are killers.

I recorded the game since I'm working today, but I guess I can delete it now.

We struck out 15 Rays in 8 innings, and yet allowed them to score 7 runs on 13 hits. Pretty unusual. I think their BABIP for the day was .550.

To echo what others' have said, big missed opportunity today. Got to be able to win games against last place teams when you have a lead on three separate occasions. Really disappointing.

1. Bad Starting Pitching

2. Lack of quality LH bullpen pitcher. RH relievers get killed by mediocre LH hitters

3. Bad OF defense. If Bourn was in CF they'd probably still be playing now

Buck played that game like he had one hand tied behind his back. Did he realize he had more than one lefty middle reliever in the pen? Why did he give away one of his last six outs when he had good PH options on the bench?

The last-place Rays recently played 6 games against the Blue Jays and the Orioles (3 against each team, respectively.)

They beat the Blue Jays 2 out of 3 times, and they lost to the Orioles 2 out of 3 times.

Would love to see Buck think outside the box in a situation like that. But not in a million years would he hit Kim for Trumbo or Davis.
