Seriously? Any of our young starters can probably do better than an 8.06 ERA and for less money. It's not like we need the depth either

Sure..I wouldn’t have an issue adding him. Perhaps there is actual upside there.

I am ok with this as long as it’s not the only pitcher we sign . We need pitchers that can eat innings . Keep in mind Kramer and Akin have only gotten about 4 starts each and they for are sure going to have their struggles.

My guess is that Elias would rather let most of our younger guys who haven’t pitched AAA yet get their feet wet there and get called up as the season progresses, rather than force feeding them into the OD rotation.     But he doesn’t want them blocked, either.  That leaves room the Wade LeBlancs of the world to get us through the first month or two of the season.

A move for a vet to eat innings was needed. Can Leblanc even eat innings?  He’s coming off a serious arm injury.

To be fair, the Rays are a team ready to win while the Orioles are in rebuild. If the Orioles had the year the Rays had last year and were making these kinds of deals vs the Archer deal you'd have a valid point, but the situations are just different.
