It’s not uncommon for guys in the minors to start to “get bored” at the level they are at.

I just think it’s time for him to get challenged more.

I don't think I've heard any player say that or even a manager about a player.

A move to Norfolk in July is what most of us expect, but it's not like he's hitting .400, or even .300.

So?  His BA is fine.  His OPS is very good.

Yep, it's fine - just not breaking any records

I mean...what do you want?  OPS is good, he looks like he has a great approach at the plate, he'd disciplined, he gets on base at a good clip.  Probably the best defender in the organization behind the plate.

What does breaking any records have to do with anything?

Yeah I don’t think he’s bored either. More likely he’s hitting a wall and having to adjust to playing a full baseball season again at a high level.

I’d still like to see him called up to AAA this year. The fact that he hasn’t been makes me think Elias won’t be calling him up to BAL until this time next year.

Rutschman doesn’t seem like the type to go through the motions.

That said, I’m in favor of moving him up.

Sure.

But I would hope it would be uncommon for a guy that went 1-1 to be bored in late June in his first real season of pro ball.

To me a guy that is bored now will probably be mailing it in in the majors if his team is 23.5 games back on July 1st.

So, pulling a Severino?

I think you’d call this a slump.  Only struck out twice all week though.

I think he's hitting into some bad luck, because like Frobby said. The K's are actually pretty low so he's putting the ball in play. Just isnt getting the hits.

And more walks than K's is impressive.
