He hit 2 homers tonight.  9 homers is 80 AB.    313/404/713/1117.   I doubt Cedric, Austin, Anthony or DJ ever did that at AAA.    McKenna trying to show he can be a starting outfielder in the majors.

I like having him on the bench even if he’s not starting. Stewart’s time is almost up. I have to think McKenna has an edge going into next year.

By basically using him as a defensive sub instead of developing him at the AAA level.

So who would you have called up when Santander or Hays was hurt?   Keep in mind that Diaz has been hurt half the time and hasn’t played well the other half.

Let’s just focus on the positives.   Nothing in McKenna’s past suggests this kind of power.   So if power is developing, that’s great.

Granted, but when did he ever receive consistent playing time, like Stewart. I really like his skillset.

100 AB is a SSS but it isn't nothing. If McKenna had hit a few more 2B and HR, maybe pushing his OPS into the .750 range, don't you think it would have been less likely that he gets optioned?

11th HR last night was a moon shot. McKenna’s only a year older than AR and out OPS’ing the #1 prospect in baseball by 200+ pts.

I don’t know where we play him, but he deserves everyday ABs with the big club.

Could platoon with Hays when rosters expand

McKenna is walking and hitting homeruns right now.  Still striking out a bit too much which is the one concern plus the fact that he did swing through a lot of high fastballs in the big show.   I have no problem letting him finish in Norfolk and see just how far this hot streak takes him.   He certainly is making a case to reconsider him as something more than just a 4th outfielder type.    The numbers he's putting up are impressive.

I have never been a McKenna fan.  Really felt he was overrated in prospect rankings.  Always felt the speed and defense could play in the majors and that he may be able to find a job but that the bat would really hold him back.

I must admit though, with the way he is performing in AAA, I have more hope for him than I ever have.

I believe it was Roch who mentioned a little while back that it just seems like the Os win games when McKenna plays.  I think he even showed the record or something like that.

However, the point is that he does appear to be the type of player that is willing to do the small things to help a team win and those players aren’t always sitting around.
