The O's will pay Odor the major league minimum.   Texas is on the hook for the remainder of his contract.    So the O's can bring him to camp.  See how he fits and cut him if he doesn't.

He's still under contract with NYY through this year (and TEX paying some of it). Does this mean the Orioles are getting him at MLB minimum?

Maybe the Orioles can defer a MLB minimum contract over a few years.

I’m slightly more intrigued by this signing than I was the 2B we signed and then cut before the season started last year.  And I’ve already forgotten his name.

I’ve got a feeling we’re all going to be frustrated having to watch Odor get 500 at bats while intriguing guys play at Bowie and Norfolk all year. Gotta get that number one pick in 2023 too!

This is a horrific signing…I don’t care if he’s paying us to play, its still stupid.
 

There isn’t one player on the offense currently that he should get at bats over.

Well, I was saying that rule number one of acquisitions is that you should never acquire someone who isn’t better than what you already have. This acquisition violates rule number one. He’s not good on defense, he can’t hit, he has a career at 88WRC, and he’s been terrible the last two years. And the one position, the one single position where we thought we might have somebody worth keeping is second base, where we have Urias, Who is superior to Odor.

So why? It’s impossible for him to be cheap enough… And we already have a better player.

I’d normally be more pissed about something like this but this guy socked Jose Bautista in the face so there’s a soft spot for him. 

I’m surprised we started our dumpster diving before the lockout though. Impressive!
