I hate to see anyone get hurt but we'll take all the advantage we can get....We just need to play 500 ball and we'll win the division... Tampa would have to win 6 out of 7 to beat us out and I don't see that happening....I think Tampa finishes 99 and 63

Weather today, I see Washington and New York have already postponed according to ESPN, but not yet in Dave Dombrowski's Philadelphia, where it is Zack Wheeler's day to pitch and there is a tournament calendar to keep to.

The Rays look positioned to launch full bullpen attack.

They are on SP4-SP5 Littell and Bradley finishing up Toronto this weekend, then have just the five games next week with Civale-Eflin-Glasnow leading off.      Next Saturday/Sunday 161-162 perhaps quasi bullpen games too if it matters.     Most of the big dogs didn't pitch yesterday with Toronto earning high win probability in the 6th inning.

Unless leverage is low, 18 Batters Faced max for Littell this afternoon.

And if Wheeler is bumped to tomorrow, he can't make another start in the regular season on normal rest and be on normal rest for Game 1 of the wild card series a week from Tuesday.

If I ran their team I would bump him to Tuesday/Wednesday this week.

I expect TB to lose 2 more games, if that. That means that the Orioles need to win at least four more games, preferably five. The two games against the Nationals are absolute must-win with their #1 and #2 pitchers going at home, after the day off on Monday. They need to take at least one from Cleveland, and that would leave splitting the series against Boston.

I went back and watched again, because I thought I must be hallucinating.  The Rays unveiled a statue outside of their stadium of Aki Iwamura !

Talk about a franchise without much tradition to celebrate !

Yeah, a guy who played 4 seasons and was worth 4 wins. I'd have waited for Longoria to retire and given him a statue, but the way the Rays flip players, Iwamura was one of the few "career" Rays players.

Edit: They just showed on the broadcast they made a statue for Longoria.
