Mountcastle and O'Hearn are both surprises.

From what I recall, Mountcastle didn't have that kind of sprint speed in previous seasons.  He may have been above average, but not 75th percentile.

2020 28.0 106th in MLB
2021 28.1 158th in MLB
2022 27.5 274th in MLB
2023 28.2 137th in MLB

Thats his sprint speed data going back to 2020.

But the point is they’re not OF. They wouldn’t be a backup LF if they can’t play OF.

O'Hearn played left field the other night.  He has also player RF in the last few weeks.

Westburg played the outfield in 6 games in Norfolk this season.

You are the one declaring someone an outfielder because they've played a few games in the outfield.

By your logic Ty was a Shortstop, Sakata was a Catcher and Chris Davis was a pitcher.

Have you watched Westburg play?   I have.  I think he has the speed, arm and defensive ability to play the outfield as well has anywhere in the infielder.   I posted earlier the season saying Westburg  has the talent to be Mr. Everywhere.    I would not be surprised  to see him work this off season to get ready for a broader role on the 2024 team.

Are you feeling OK?

Here is how it went.

It was said that O'Hearn and Westburg were not outfielders.

You said that they have both played a minimal amount of time in the outfield, seemingly implying that it qualified them to play the outfield.

I counted by mentioning All-Star Ty Wiggington having played Short.

You got offended by logic and tried to change the topic.

I gave more examples which you ignored.

Did I ever say Westburg could not learn how to play outfield?

Of course I didn't.

Right now he's not an outfielder, anymore than Stevie Wilkerson was.

You honestly give me a headache sometimes.  This is simple stuff but I swear it isn't an act with you, you honestly can't figure it out.

Former shortstop.

Like Cal?

I remember that all the scouting types had Mountcastle as having average at best speed, and I was shocked at how fast he was when he came up.  I believe I read that he spent the winter before his debut doing some pretty focused speed training.

Mullins always seemed like a quickness guy vs straight line speed. Brian Roberts wasn’t terribly fast either but got to his speed quickly. Still, surprised Mullins is that low.

Mullins’ speed has declined every year.  He may not be as fast as he used to be, but he still has great instincts in CF and on the bases.

Never said he was.   But either could be Hays backup.

Westburg might play some LF eventually. We’re loaded with IF prospects and our only RH OF bat in the system is Fabian. It could be a way to keep our IF prospects and not feel like we have to deal one like Hernaiz.
