Fourth game with 23 hits, the record is 33.  Looks like it is the record in a 9 inning game.

MLB is almost 150 years old, dozens of teams have cumulatively played hundreds of thousands of games, and if that has happened more than a couple of dozen times ever, I'd be stunned.

It's just hard to see a 23-hit nine-inning game period. That's 3.55 hits each inning, every inning.
