I like Frazier as a part time starter and pinch hitter against RHP, but his defense leaves a lot to be desired. Frazier is good at getting the balls hit to him, but his range is lacking.

Elias made a tactical blunder sending Irvin down.  Not reinforcing the pen at the deadline also hurt, and were seeing the effects now.

I think everybody saw this coming.  Hyde needs to let starters go deeper into games.  Especially with Baustista out this bullpen is not strong to carry 3-4 innings every game.

But...but...but...everyone was happy with his defense yesterday?

Frazier isn't very good but a disproportionate number of his moments of competence are in big moments.

Is there value in that?

I'd rather have someone who is more talented even it if comes with a more even distribution.

If a pitcher goes on the IL Irvin can be backup tomorrow. Irvin has been decent in the second half, I didn't like optioning him either.
