Colton Cowser 2024

Recommended Posts

Zero reason for him to not play a whole lot right now. Santander is struggling, so he can get the occasional day off.  Hays sucks right now. Mullins looked better today but he can get the occasional day off.

All in all, plenty of at bats for Cowser.

Love to see a young player immediately stake a claim, you would think he has to be in the lineup now until he cools off significantly and someone else heats up.

Oh you must be knew here. He didn’t stake a claim last year and there were plenty of people this offseason that wanted to trade him as a result.

He needs to be playing over Hays. They can’t in good consciousness sit him after the game he had today and put Hays back in there.

Cowser looks so confident at the plate right now.  He's putting together even better at bats than Adley and Gunnar.

This is exactly the start Cowser needed, both to give him a jolt of confidence and give Hyde a reason to increase his playing time.  (I’ll say this: he’s gotten into every game but one, and had at bats in 8 of the 9 he’s played.)

I like how he’s looked overall, though I will say his two at bats vs. lefties looked very lame and he also appears vulnerable to pitches up and in.  Hopefully he’ll improve in those two respects with more reps.

Nah, Im just one of those weird people that doesnt do gut reactions, but oddly expects people to need to be patience with young players as they make mistakes.

I would have traded him for someone like Cease if we didn't get Burnes. Doesn't mean I think he was a bust, though, almost certainly some of our prospects will bust.

The one time I've seen him uncomfortable was vs LHP Will Smith. Smith threw nothing but sliders and Cowser didn't make any contact, resulting in a strikeout.
