There've been several plays where he made a poor read on a bloop and didn't advance an extra base when many runners would have. Basically what Urias did today. Overall with his speed he's still an above-average baserunner but I can imagine the difference might be small enough to save him for a future change. -

Frankly I'd expect more institutional control over something like that. An elite prideful athlete is going to be entrusted with a decision that crucial in playoff baseball. How do you take the emotion out of it? -

I always thought they moved it back to far or should have kept the height lower but there are lots of factors that can’t be foreseen. In 2022 it was almost impossible to hit it out as homers were also down that year. Then 2023 they changed the baseballs and “juiced them and we saw more homers go out. This year again the balls don’t seem as juiced as last year and if the weather is not warm like today it makes it really hard to hit one out to left. What will MLb do next season with the balls? -

I mean, we have months worth of data where he just fell off a cliff. But we have 2.5 seasons of data showing he’s better than these last couple months. I’ve gotta imagine it’s some nagging injury. That said, if he’s his first half self…yeah, they win the division. But in the end, Hyde and Elias know his performance. They don’t need to bat him high. They don’t need to start him at DH. Other guys aren’t stepping up. And they aren’t stepping up when it matters.
