Good points all. Yeah, the transition from the grass to the dirt is not as advantageous because of more reaction time in the OF. It's one of the reasons why I believe it might be an easier transition for him than from SS to 2B. Also, in my minimal experience scouting, it was pretty easy to tell right away if a guy is capable just by asking him to take some balls in the OF. I would guess it's hit their radar. -
In terms of who Povich has pitched against, Toronto is 24th in runs scored per game. Their offense is bad. Atlanta is better than they have performed so far this year but are still only 14th in runs per game. NYY and Cleveland are 4th and 2nd so those are two good lineups. Fedde has faced CLE twice and the O’s once. ARI, MIL, and MIN are the two other top 10 teams in runs per game he has faced. In those 6 starts, he has gone 34.1 innings, 10 BB’s, 37 K’s, and 11 ER. He’s fared pretty well against stronger opponents this year. That’s a strong K/BB ratio and ERA under 3. -
I’m kinda warming to the idea of KiKuchi, who will not cost much in terms of prospect capital. And then go get Crochet in the offseason when WhiteSox may be more reasonable in terms of trade demands. -
Tony Gwynn, I believe was a very good basketball player in college. Wade Boggs is in the HOF and I don’t think anyone would call him an elite athlete. Athleticism is helpful in all sports but probably not as important in baseball. -
Like he did when he traded Ortiz and Hall for Burnes. I am all for trading for more pitching but give it a break man. What available pitcher do you think is worth trading any of the "precious draft picks" - Holliday, Mayo or Basallo? or for that matter even Kjerstad, Stowers or Norby? Maybe you want to trade Gunnar, Adley, Westburg and Cowser since they were also once precious draft picks? -
Way too high for Dominguez. His hot streak was like Cowser’s earlier in the year. Doesn’t mean as much as people are pretending.
