We have been pretty healthy the previous 2 years I guess it is all catching up to us this year.

In one of the recent game threads I actually posed the question if Webb was hurt. He was toppoing out at 92 in Cleveland, and while I know he doesn't throw hard in general, 92 was pretty far off where he normally is. Add in that he has been pretty bad for a few weeks now, this makes sense. It sucks, but it makes sense. The injuries this year have been ridiculous.

Getting Akin back should help, I think he gets too much unwarranted criticism here for a non-high leverage guy. Would be nice to have McDermott available, but even he now seems destined to miss the rest of the year.

Hopefully this is minor, and 4-D chess I wonder if Soto being terrible has increased the urgency to freshen Webb up for September.

This bullpen was already terrible. It's gotten worse.

I wonder if this was known before yesterday. During the game I was surprised to see Smith as the first reliever. 6th inning, top of the order, close game, several days of rest-- seemed like classic Webb time.

Webb was used pretty extensively and often this year. Not sure if that contributed or not.

Huge bummer. He's been excellent basically all year until the last few appearances, where I assume the inflammation was contributing.

Pitching staffs anymore are just a war of attrition.  Who has the best 25th-30th pitchers on their roster?  Goodness.
