This was a very bad team.  The most frustrating winning team of my life.  They never missed a chance to come up small.

Actually, no, this is a very good team that played very badly.

I’m not talking about the injury replacements, I’m talking about the core, the guys, the “extend him” fellows.

I was expecting to win this series, and I wanted the Royals instead of the Tigers, but in the end, it did not matter whom the Os played, because the Os would not have been up to the challenge.

It is ridiculous to suggest that mayo and Jackson are not trade candidates. They should definitely be on the block, and we can only hope they haven’t lost too much value.

Oh well, we were able to spend three additional days talking about baseball that involved our chosen team.

Now it’s over and the countdown begins to next February

Where are you now?

Where are the posters who laughed when we said how boring this team was?
Where are the posters who scoffed at the idea that this team is full of players who can't perfrom under pressure?
Where are the posters that bring up that the Orioles offense scored the second most runs?
Where are the posters that go into the game thread and tell people they are overreacting when it's clear this team is choking time and time again?
Where were the posters who just think it's baseball that this core group choked once again?

Every single coach should be fired. Hyde should be fired. Elias gets one more offseason with an owner that may actually spend.

Santander, Mountcastle and O'Hearn should have played their last games as Orioles.

Rutschman needs to go to fat boy camp and lose about 15 pounds while putting on muscle. Maybe go to a hitting school that teach 2-0 is a great pitch to swing on.

At the end of the day, this is EXACTLY what this team deserved. They have played like scared little school children since late June. Don't give me injuries, because this team's offense was in tact and they scored one freakin' run in two games. One.

They were swept by a 85-win team that has struggled down the stretch. They collected two hits off a bullpen in 8 innings of work. They are an absolute and utter embarrassment. This team is more of an embarrassment than the team that lost 110+ games.

Everyone involved in this season have stained their reputation. EVERYONE. Gunnar hits 37 home runs and craps his pants. Cowser thinks he's rookie of the year and dude swings at ball that hit him with the bases loaded. What kind of ridiculous unprofessional at bat was that?

Adley? Are you kidding me. If they traded him this offseason I wouldn't shed a tear.

The only thing good in any of this is now my calendar has been freed up. Never again will I ever trust a Hyde-led, Elias developed team led by his core. He needs to go out and find guys that don't poop their pants the second pressure is involved.

Thank you Burnes for being a professional and doing your job. You deserved better than being in a clubhouse full of choke artists.

If Elias brings back this coaching staff he gets one more year to win a World Series than he's on the chopping block too. If he wants to ride with these losers, then go down with these losers.

WOWWWWW!!!! You went scorched Earth on them. lol

If Matt Borgschulte, Ryan Fuller, and Cody Asche have jobs in the morning, Elias should be called on the carpet by Rubenstein. At the very least they need to go.

What I don’t understand is what happened to the hitting this year versus last year? When did we become a home run or bust team?

Absolutely.  The Rays get back their top 3 starters next year. The Sox are on our heels and have 4 top 25 prospects with $$$. The NYY are the Yankees. Maybe we finish above the Jays. Things are getting dire and no one wants to admit it.  I would clean house of guys like Mounty and Urias. Let the young guys play. See what you have. Holliday has to turn into a pure hitter.  Heston needs to develop.  If you trust your development people, let them play

Why pretend Urias was a problem when he's one of the ones who has been hitting?  We can't criticize this team and not criticize the supposedly amazing young hitters at the expense of the veterans who actually did something with the bat these two games.

If you think the young players just need to grow, then fine, but if that's the case then we can't really complain we lost if the answer is to stick with the same young bats that did nothing these two games.  All I can say for now is maybe they will grow with new coaching.  I do not envy Elias and the decisions he has to make.

Urias is the problem on that he is in the way of the only way this team wins.  Develop the young players.

Never thought I would see this from you Tony. There's a lot of people on this board who don't deserve to root for this team, you included. Feel free to ban man since you don't like it when you get called out.

So lame.

I'll just ad done more thing...I started a thread a couple of weeks back about my concerns around our lack of development of bat to ball skills, and how I wasn't seeing it.  It wasn't well received, as if I was overreacting to a slump, and not a systemic problem.   Is there anyone out there who still feels I didn't/don't have a valid concern?

4 out of 5 home grown chokers.

They also need to look to see if the way we are training hitters in the minors is hurting their major league performance. The selectivity that works in the minors with mediocre pitching isn’t going to work as well in the MLB and will work even worse in the playoffs.  We need guys that can hit good pitches. Too many of our guys can only hit mistakes.

No, I'm not going to ban you. You wanna love this team as I point out the uncomfortable truth, that's up to you.

You go with the guys who can hit now.  It's laughable to complain the O's just lost because they couldn't hit and then suggest the fix was to bat Coby Mayo or Jackson Holliday.  Mayo showed he wasn't ready yet -- Holliday too.

    • If you want to see how young superstars should play, look at Churios and Merrill. Both big time contributors to their teams in the post season, both players 20 and 21 years of age. Meanwhile, our Jackson doesn’t even get an AB. Something is just off with this organization and their development..
    • I agree with some of the opening post. I cannot blame Hyde for this team not hitting. I believe it is completely analytical based. Analytics are against singles, walks, hit and run or bunts.    I know we can pick our guy to be upset with but I will go with Tony Taters. Adley hit a single to RF and with the right effort and baserunning he should have been on third base. Don’t have to talk about the terrible AB with the bases loaded. There was another play with the Massey single in the second that rubbed me the wrong way. The ball was hit 73 MPH and landed 250 feet. The RF wall is 325 feet away so how far is he playing back against Michael Massey? Tony did not strike me of a guy giving it everything he had to get to a fly ball. He basically assumed Mullins would get it and jogged in.
    • I would have taken this loss harder in the past guess I'm getting older. Also this team has been telegraphing for over a half season how this season would end. I don't want to hear stats on how many runs this team scored it's a lineup that lives and dies by the home run. The problem is the weather cools in October and the ball doesn't carry as well in summer at OPACY. The Orioles actually got good pitching, but the offense came up small yet again. Elias needs to rethink the types of hitters he has on the Orioles roster and evaluate the effectiveness of having two hitting coaches. There's even an offensive strategy coach and what exactly does he do? "Hey Adley next time you get up the plate try not to make an out".
    • Completely agree and there's no reason the O's shouldn't be a serious player for Soto.  Him and one top starter and I'm happy.
    • Add a couple of seasoned professionals who know how to win. Solid players who have been around a while. These young guys are talented for sure, but that’s not enough. They need to learn to play better as a team and know what it takes to win consistently.  I honestly think they get caught up in reading about how good they are, not proving it on the field day after day.
    • Except Cruz wasn’t an overpay. He’s the rare older free agent that actually earned his money. By the way, Cruz was the 55th highest paid player when he signed his FA deal after he played for the Orioles. He wasn’t even that expensive.    But that’s just an aside. I understand what you’re saying and your point is valid. I’m just still irked that the Orioles basically punted in that offseason that Cruz walked. I hope they are fiscally brave enough to take the next step and not count on Holliday and Mayo to improve next years team.
