I don't know about all that, but he could definitely be good for us. He didn't seem to get much PT for TB last year.

It's just hard to imagine that a guy that didn't seem to get much PT for a team that finished behind the Orioles last year could be the next David Ortiz.

I would make this deal. To me, its worth the risk, especially since we have Hernandez's replacement in the system already. These guys are also young enough to be around while this team gets rebuilt.

Of the four guys mentioned only Burres had a representative season last year. My perception is that Gomes and Baldelli have much more upside left then an average to mediocre starter and a declining catcher. It is true that Baldelli has not been healthy for a couple of years and Gomes had an off year last year but to me Gomes has 30 to 35 home run porential and if Baldelli can stay healthy he has all star peotential.
