Bullpen has looked really good in this series. Big Mike turning the corner and becoming more consistent would be huge for this team. -

Basallo having been such a positive outlier compared to most of the other ballplayers of his age messes with an Orioles-centered perspective how quickly a typical Latin American ballplayer affiliating at 16 should become good in US full-season ball. As if Angelos/MacPhail/Duquette ignoring it for decades didn't already put us behind. B-Ref today gives Shorebirds Bats 20.2 versus 20.7 league average, though the White Sox with the oldest squad skews it some. It does seem pretty clear already Braylin Tavera, who seemed like the best bet, has not taken the baton smoothly from Gunnar, Mayo and Basallo at proving himself one of the world's very best players born their year. It maybe wouldn't be fair for one Club to have all of them over a multi-year span along with a bunch of 1-1's or near 1-1's. -

I think it's just nice to see Bradish back out there today. If he comes in hot and looks good I will definitely feel a lot better. I have to admit I have some apprehension about what we're gonna see. -

I don't know why they don't go with the opener strategy more often. It's more about getting matchups than limiting innings -- whether the SP pitches first or not you can pitch them as long or short as you want. Bradish could start and pitch two innings, or pitch 6 innings out of the pen. As a guy with poor splits, Akin is better suited to come in as a reliever when they can control his matchups.
