Why did Buck give that game away?

So did Robertson, BTW.

Not sure what you're saying here, but if you're implying in any way that Robertson intentionally let the Orioles tie it up, you need to go back and watch his reaction to the Pearce HR. If that was faked, then he really needs to be an actor when his playing career is over.

Bottom line, guys, Jeter would have batted in the bottom of the ninth anyway.

No, he would not have. The Orioles had to score at least 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning in order for the Yankees to be batting in the bbottom of the 9th inning at all.

So did Robertson, BTW.

So, you believe that Robertson WAS in on it ???

OK. Let's go back and see what that rascal was up to.

Fist, he walked Nick Markakis ...... intentionally

Then, he struck out Alejandro De Aza ..... UNintentionally

Then, he gave up the 2-run home run to Ada Jones ...... after getting 2 strikes on him ...... intentionally.

Then, he struck out Nelson Cruz ...... UNintentionally.

Then, he gave up the game-tying round-tripper to Steve Pearce ...... intentionally.

After that, he got J.J. Hardy out to fly out to centerfield (intentionally.)

A masterful job by Robertson.

Finally, none of that addresses this ........ unless you believe that Showalter knew what the weather was going to be like the day before, even though all reports had predicted rain all day for the Bronx.

Yes.

In fact, the day before, when it was a very real possibility that it might be Jeter's final home game (with the threat of rain for the next day) AND his final home plate appearance, Showalter changed pitchers in the bottom of the 8th inning, so that a right-hander could face Jeter ........ and the Orioles were winning by a score of 9-3 !!!

For this move, Showalter was booed incessantly by the Yankee crowd ...... but Buck did what was important for the Orioles, NOT what was important for Derek Jeter and/or Yankee fans.

ORIOLES - 9 OOO YANKEES - 3

Brian Matusz pitching.

Brett Gardner: Flyout to Centerfield.

Brad Brach replaces Brian Matusz pitching.

Derek Jeter: Groundout (1B to Pitcher.)

Thanks for all of this but Pearce's dinger was a solo....definitely all planned as you elucidated! :slytf:
