Gotcha, thanks. Gotta wonder why they made the 1 year rule if they make it so easy to get around it.

Fangraphs did an opinion piece about it today.

I don't think it is that easy. He either has to sit out the next six months or play for another team. What if he gets hurt? How will he react to playing for a team when he knows he has been traded? If he struggles will he be replaced by another player?

It is a huge mess is what it is.

Bubble Boy. And since he can't hit, those six months will be vital.

“Given the circumstances and the undoubtedly negative impact on Trea Turner, for the teams involved and Major League Baseball to endorse and approve this trade is not only unethical, but also goes against the very spirit of the Minor League Uniform Player Contract that players sign when they first enter professional baseball. That contract requires a player to ‘serve the club diligently and faithfully.’ Shouldn’t the clubs and the controlling parties at Major League Baseball be held to the same standard?”

Free Trea.

Oh, it will blow up somehow. It's why you can talk about doing what they did, but it is impractical.

Makes no sense to prevent the trade from going through. MLB needs to get with the union and revise this portion of the CBA. Why would the rule be written that way in the first place?
