Pedro Alvarez may be a fit

Well, it seems the O's are just going to try and out mash everyone

Steve Phillips and Todd Hollandsworth, on their MLB Network Radio show, ranked it the fourth-best offense in the AL East, ahead of only Tampa Bay.

Of course, Phillips also thinks Ellsbury and Gardner both bounce back and that their second halves last year were not signs of things to come.

I think if we get Pedro Alvarez, the only way it will work: Use Chris Davis in right field, Trumbo at 1st base and P.Alvarez DH.

Call me crazy, but with the limited good options to improve the rotation, I say we go all out and just try and outscore everyone. If Alvarez is willing to sign a decent 1, 2 or 3 year contract I'd bring him on and tell him he's going to be my everyday DH. Right now, the biggest problem the Orioles have is this moves Trumbo to the outfield, most likely RF, but if the Orioles played the sloth-like Markakis out in RF for a number of years they can probably get a way with Trumbo there for a year.

I kind of like this lineup:

2. Kim (L) - LF

3. Jones ® - CF

4. Davis (L) - 1B

5. Trumbo ® - RF

6. Alvarez (L) - DH

7. Schoop ® - 2B

8. Wieters/Joseph (S/R) ©

If Hardy recovers to even a decent bat, that's a tough lineup 1-9.

Our outfield defense is not going to rival KC, but man are we going to hit some home runs.

I've made this post a few times, with that very lineup (maybe I had MW and JS flipped). I'm all for it. 10-8 games every day. I guess I'm one of the few who really likes Trumbo and I like Alvarez, too. Bullpen looks great. Really don't like the rotation but nothing we do is going to fix it now.

Meh, variable lineups. Guys get hurt. We can play the donkey outfield sometimes. Find a defensive specialist for late inning OF substitution. That 1-9 Tony posted is 200+ HRs.

I think that's a little steep but yes, with the addition of Trumbo the team should easily eclipse 200 HR.

Reimold is more than swift. He's fast.

Sign me up. Toronto didn't win with defense and pitching last year.

Personally I'd rather convert Davis to a right fielder and leave Trumbo at 1st. That is Trumbo's best position and Davis is our best athlete/RF of the bunch at that point.

Pitching did contribute to Toronto's terrific run differential last year. Their team ERA+ was 104, aided by the extra oomph from David Price and Marcus Stroman, and also by a much improved bullpen.

Jones will move to right after his next contract. Not one day before. And probably not the first second or third year of that.
