Upton would be useful if we had a hole in the OF (like we did last year), but that's not the case. We are adding about three mil in salary for next season and one mil for this one. If Trumbo walks maybe he is the starting RF next season.

I like the move in theory just don't see the huge need for Upton on the team right now. He'll be the fourth OFer.

I hope the prospect we give up is not anyone significant. That could sour me on this deal.

Yup.... I'm fine with Upton, but no idea how we'll get ABs for everyone we need and highly concerned about what else we would need to give them for the Pads to take Ubaldo...

As much as I adore the thought of that scrub no longer being an Oriole, this concerns me.

Whats his contract?

Owed 16,450,000 next year. 2 million more than ubaldo this year(pro rated) and about 3 million more next year. So pretty much the money we saved with the Matusz trade.
