Agreed.  But the old man has been the main driver behind that ongoing litigation.  Settlements can happen quickly.  The Angelos sons may be willing to settle.

If they take a bad deal, they risk not having an attractive product to sell. I don't think they are going to rush through a settlement at the detriment of a prospective sale of the team.

I know some of these NFL stadiums have ballooned to over a billion. Not sure if a ballpark would cost that much.

By the time it is said and done Miami taxpayers will be paying over a billion for the Marlins new stadium.

The New Rays stadium is estimated at 892 Million and it only seats 30,482.

Of which about 11k will be utilized.

I wonder what genius came up with the idea for about 31k in possible attendance? Beyond stupid.

There is something to be said for smaller stadiums with less capacity.  Drives up prices/demand for the tickets.

Most empty seats in a baseball stadiums are the cheap ones anyway.

He did get funds from the city  for his Port Covington project.Sagamore Properties now has a whiskey and hotel, etc.Under Armour is doing a little better but has allocated  funds to Port Covington One thing I did find interesting in Phase 4 (future and long term projects) for Port Covington lists an arena and retractable dome stadium to be built on the site I think it is a long way off or a pipe dream

Tried the Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey, didn't think it was all that great.

I'm fine with the seating, I just don't understand how that small a park comes in at around 900M.

Not sure where they expect to get that funding.

What’s wrong with 31K? You know they have trouble drawing down there. Longoria has suggested that they might consider moving.

    • I’d call 2015 pretty excellent.  It got him a $161 mm contract. 2017 forward was way worse than meh.  Put it this way: if Davis had retired after 2016, he would have had 17.4 rWAR.  He went -5.7 rWAR from there.  That’s incredibly rare.
    • Mike Elias would be my first priority.
    • I could care less. I don't understand why this board is so obsessed with this topic. Most players will still be here for a few years and let's enjoy them while they're here. Don't get me wrong, if an extension happens, I will be happy. It takes two to tango and there are many good reasons both sides may not want to (at least right now).  Burnes - has made it clear he is going to be a free agent (the reason he signed with Boras) so including him is a waste of time Gunnar - signed with Boras, so that tells me he's not really thinking about extensions. Even if he is, good chance he waits until Soto signs and that's where he starts the discussions. He seems like an ultra competitive person who's probably not looking to give any discounts. Rumor is they may be working on this one - be happy to be wrong. Holliday - signed with Boras and hasn't proven he can hit MLB pitching Bradish - need to wait to see if he gets through the season and status of his elbow GRod - he's a pitcher who throws the ball violently - no rush Adley - I believe this may be the one that could get done, he's older and his value is a more defined  Westburg / Cowser - still improving, until performance/value more defined, risk on both sides Orioles / Rubenstein - new owners, still probably working on defining cash flows, wouldn't be surprised they have ME working on multiple scenarios outlining salary $ and wins tradeoffs. We could be talking close to a billion dollars to sign all the above. I'm just going to enjoy and root for the team in the now, and worry about next year's team in the off-season.
    • You can’t extend Ying without Yang!
    • No chance he turns it down.
    • Also, the bold move right now would be Holliday...
    • It depends on what your goals are. If being a team with a winning record and competing for a possible playoff birth is you acceptable goal in you 4 of Adley and year 3 of Gunnar then that rotation will probably be okay.  But if you have any designs on winning a championship then that rotation is not likely to be nearly talented enough to win a World Series unless you have added a Mason Miller to pair with Felix Bautista.
