Two different positions, but Rom is performing at a relatively higher level than Adam Hall on the same team. Both have profile questions (velocity, power). I think Rom is higher.

I understand people dropping Diaz too.

I'm not saying this is likely...at all...but in my perfect world, Mountcastle could perform exactly like's he's performing right now and still be our #7 prospect. I'd prefer the upside of all of AR, Hall, GrayRod, Kremer, Hays and Diaz to Mountcastle. In theory, they could all perform as I'd hope in the second half and end up rated higher than Mountcastle. It's not likely, but I think it's possible.

Again, by Tony's standard, I'd personally rather have a .800 outfielder than an .825 1B. I'd rather have a #3 starter too. Don't get me wrong. These guys would have to produce, but that's where I'd be if you eliminate the injuries and our guys do what I hope they can do.

Mountcastle is younger than Diaz and destroying AAA pitching while Diaz is struggling in AA for second straight season.  I dont see how you could think Diaz is the better prospect at this point.

No way Diaz is above Mountcastle and Harvey is on the edge of being a non prospect.  Zero success above low A and 24 1/2.

Trying not to overreact on the last few months. Harvey still has a great arm which is the important thing, I'm confident he'll find his way sooner rather than later results wise IF (massive if, which is why he's 7th and not 4th or even higher) he can stay healthy. I think it's too soon to be dropping him much on prospect lists.

Same with Díaz, no need to overreact on the last few months. Still like his median outcome better than the one for Mountcastle which probably looks something like Trumbo (I said median outcome, before people get on me). I know some people think Mountcastle has a special bat but in general I just don't like his profile, as someone said already in this thread. I don't like low OBP hitters in general and I certainly don't like low OBP 1B. On bat alone does Mountcastle project any better than Adam Jones or Francouer when they were top prospects? I'm not sure, and Adam Jones at 1B certainly isn't a valuable piece.

Just my very un-expert opinion, trying to balance everything I've read.

Harvey was terrible last year as well.  Probably should be demoted to Frederick at this point.

Don’t be talked off of your opinion, #FlashStrong! Those who study this religiously get more wrong than they get right, in every sport. Diaz wasn’t considered our top prospect by every group, outside of this board, for no reason. If Harvey can stay healthy & still has 95+, he’s got more in his arm than all but a couple of our pitching prospects.

That said, no way you can justify Mountcastle at 6!

People consider prospects and as they fail their ratings go down.  Harvey hasn’t been a top 100 prospect in over  3 years.

Diaz has had 270 of at bats without hitting for the Orioles.

Pretty big bump for Knight, just for dominating Low A ball competition at 22 years old.

It's as much that I'm not a big believer in the guys I put behind him as others are.
