Starting the season in June without fans in the stands makes sense, assuming abundant testing and treatments are working.

Well it would have helped in the beginning with contact tracing. Now it is everywhere so you are right it wouldn’t help much now.   But it would to know which people had truly mild cases and recovered.

The hyper-frequent testing is necessary for MLB so they can avoid avoid entire teams being placed in quarantine. These are world class athletes in the prime so their personal risk of complications from infection would be very low. But they have families too, and a responsibility to stop the spread. The more I think about this, the less I want to think about this. Weird times.

As far as testing goes, these new testing kits we have can tell you if you have it within 5-10 minutes, as opposed to waiting 5 days.  If they can mass produce them, players and personnel could take them routinely and risk of spreading would become quite small. 

Yeah it doesn't exist at scale yet.  But once it does...

With that said, the U.S. has had extremely inadequate testing - up until this point. As a result, our severe lack of testing has not helped contain or mitigate the virus YET. But that does NOT mean that we should give up on testing. Quite to the contrary, our government and our health care system need to be catching up in order to reach the levels of testing that South Korea and other Asian countries (that are more accustomed to responding to these viral outbreaks) have demonstrated. Once we get to the point of daily, drive-thru testing with widely available tests, we'll be closer to lifting state-mandated closures.

Everyone in Asia wears masks when they leave their homes. Here in the US next to no one is wearing masks. You need masks on everyone to stop the spread.

Apparently in China there is still self quarantine for 14 days if you travel to a different province. Also, if you come into China from another country, you are put in a quarantine and food is delivered...can't leave place at all. There are still over 100 flights/day from NY Metro airports to Florida. You need more than masks...some common sense.

Considered how the news out of China is censored by the government. How do you know what to trust.

BTW, take a hard look at some of those pictures, those that are mask, are not covering their noses.

Masks are supposed to stop you from spreading the germs, but not much to keep you from getting germs.
