Nick Hundley has been hired by Major League Baseball as a senior director of baseball operations.

Hundley had expressed a desire earlier this winter to continue playing, but it would appear that there weren't any attractive offers out there. Or maybe he just views this as a better gig. The 36-year-old catcher finishes his 12-year MLB career with 766 hits, 93 home runs, and 376 RBI. He suited up for the Padres, Rockies, Giants, Orioles, and Athletics before spending some time last season as minor league depth for the Phillies.

Ah, Pat Connaughton.    Now up to about $6.2 mm in basketball earnings, and seems to have carved out the type of career that will keep him earning $1.5 - 2 mm/yr for at least several more seasons.   I’d say he made a good call.

Maybe they're bringing Ubaldo back "home" because they believe in 10-year cycles. His best season was 2010 with the Rockies: 19-8, 2.88 ERA.

Didn't see mention here of Pedro Strop signing a one-year $1.8 million-deal with the Reds about 10 days ago. As the article worries, he'll be on the same team with the player he plunked and called "stupid"; I guess it's good that most of the game he'll be faraway out in the pen!

Feels odd that Strop is now 34 and put in 7 seasons with the Cubs, during six of which he was very effective. Maybe the way he wears his cap makes him seem a kid forever.

Radhames Liz opted out of his contract with the Monkeys, they thought he was trying to avoid the coronavirus but rather he's out due to a herniated disc in his back. I'm not sure Liz has many more opportunities to play pro baseball after this. Tough gettin old.

His comments about the woman coach I think pretty much sealed his fate.  Probably would be banned anyway but who wants their reunion ruined by offensive comments he is sure to make if invited.

Old friend Jose Mesa Jr. has signed with the American Association KC T-Bones. 

Can't find a transaction for the Yankees cutting him, but KC seems to think he's theirs.

Looks like the Yankees released him last June and he signed with the T-Bones a month later.
