Absurd decision by Mattingly.  If he had a veteran with good control, that'd be a reasonable decision, but this kid clearly had no command, and the ump was consistently squeezing the strike zone.  I would have intentionally walked Mancini, but then ya gotta pitch to Mountcastle in that situation, imo.

I actually think his decision in the top half of the 9th was worse. You don’t force a guy to bunt who struggles to even do it. Ridiculous. 
 

I feel like the two IBBs are defensible because they’re both guys with lift to their swings and McKenna is well, a roll of the dice.
