Grayson Rodriguez 2022

Grayson’s line today, 2.2 IP, 1 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 7 K’s.

He struck out 5 of 6 batters in the first two innings, allowing no baserunners.   In the third, he issued three straight walks to load the bases, struck out the next two, then allowed a two-run single on a 1-2 count to end his day.  Prizina came in and allowed both inherited runners to score.

Talk about channeling your inner DL Hall!  56 pitches, 29 for strikes.

Pitch count up to 56, and out.     Only 29 strikes, but got 7 strikeouts with them, leaving precious few strikes at all for plate appearances not ending in K's.

Lot of traffic in the 3rd inning, 3 walks and 1 hit, and all four runs crossed.

On to Norfolk and ~70 pitches Friday.

Walking the 7-8-9 guys in a AA lineup after those first two innings quite the combination!

He’s showing the rust.  Not sure he can help the O’s this year.

Well they may be playing their way out of a WC spot anyway, so he can still come up and get a start or 2 to get his feet wet.

I'm curious to see if they have him pitch Arizona (if not Cleveland and Houston) in October.     If he's just getting back to midseason form after a few more turns, there's just the question of his 2022 platform for 2023.

We certainly hope he'll need to get used to pitching to Halloween so a 2022 practice rep in the Club's favorite "controllable environment" seems like it might be beneficial.

At this point bringing him up to the Orioles would just be a morale boosting exercise for him.  Especially since he has to be protected.  No harm letting him feel what its like to be in the SHOW.

When he gets here I hope he strikes out the side.

No, he should come up and get a taste of the majors.  If he’s going to be on the OD roster, which he will be of healthy, there is zero reason not to bring him up bow, providing that he is healthy and throwing as he should be of course.
