Are there any thoughts on Josh Lester?

The question I have on Lester, Cordero, Diaz and O'Hearn is who has an opt out?

O’Hearn and Diaz do not.  Cordero most like does but my guess is that his opt out is not as soon as Mazara’s.   Mazara probably has an opt out end of this month.  Cordero probably around June 1.   O’Hearn is on a guaranteed ML contact, passed through waivers, and either couldn’t declare FA or declined it to maintain is 1.4M salary.   The Orioles can keep him in Norfolk all year if they want.   Diaz passed through waivers.  He’s like any other minor leaguer in the system.  They can keep him in Norfolk indefinitely as well.  Same with Daz Cameron.  I do not know about Lester but I doubt as a 28 yo career minor leaguer that he had enough leverage to get an opt out when he signed, but it’s possible.

Elias would probably want to keep as many of them as he can in the O's organization.  And opt out may be an edge to keep whoever has it on the 26 man roster.

You don’t need all of them and Kjerstad’s emergence could be a factor as well.

These are dime a dozen guys that fans be found if you shake a tree. No reason to be worried about losing any of them.

He has two triples today.  I have no idea how he has two triples he doesn't look like a fleet of foot guy.  His numbers have been pretty decent the last couple years since the pandemic.  I wonder if there was a swing change over that period.

If you look at the video highlights on mlb.com you'll see that both triples were misplayed. The first was off the tip of the glove of the CFer diving after circling in too wide (announcers on that one said the outfield play in general has been bad, perhaps due to inability to deal with crosswinds), and then it rolled off to the left past the LFer.

The second took an acute-angle carom off the fence in the RF foul area that the outfielder running over guessed completely wrong. It rolled a lot before he cd turn around and get to it. And yes, you're right: during the quick cuts of him rounding the bases, he did not look fleet at all, rather slow in fact.

Just looking at his BBRef page, going all the way back to his college days, he's definitely the odd-duck among the Cordero/Mazara/O'Hearn/Diaz scrum. I'm taking his luck in ST with quite a bit of salt. If I had to guess, I'll bet it's between O'Hearn and Cordero if they choose to go the NRI bench bat route.

    • Rays have not won much. They havnt been dominant.  They’ve been a solid team with a crap stadium that’s very far away from their fan base.  Located somewhere else, they’d have solid attendance.     The A’s on the other hand are a bad example for your argument.  After a dominant 70s (with titles) from 1981-1993 they were one of the most popular teams in the country and never averaged less than 11th in the league in attendance (finishing 2nd twice, 3rd twice, and 4th twice) while making it to 3 WS & winning 2.
    • Bored on account of the rain delay, plus the board needs more fun nonsense (as opposed to lame nonsense like benching players in two week slumps and whatnot).    Simple question - what’s your favorite hair amongst the 26 man roster as it stands this afternoon? Its Cionel Perez for me, but there are many contenders: Gunnar - recently shorn but still flowing  Adley - the professional flow Jorge - medium length dreads Kremer - long and curly with man bun on the regular  Burnes - classic flow Irvin - curly Burnes Kimbrel - repping the gingers, another man bun Kyle Stowers - curly blond locks (an underrated choice IMO) We’ve got great flow in AAA too - Jackson, Heston, Vespi would all be contenders if they were in the majors.  Shoutout to Big Mike, who certainly would be on this list if it were made yesterday.  Important point: beards are not lettuce. Facial hair could be a separate category. Facial hair could be a tie breaker here if you’re so inclined though.    Who’s your fav?
    • ??? I think you lost me on that one. The Detroit Lions hosted the NFL draft last month and broke the record for attendance.  Can, I think you and I are on the same side of the coin when it comes to the importance of retaining great/superstar/franchise players. For whatever reason @emmett16 seems to be opposed to it. I remember one post he had about Elias/Sig possibly being able to use AI in order to figure out some sort of star profile for 15/16 year olds so that they could continue to replicate and replace the Hendersons/Rutschmans/Hollidays/etc.
    • You still alive, Frobby?

    • Well, I wasn’t too disappointed when we ended our garage sale early, but now I am. could still be selling furniture and old Zippos.
    • If what you guys say is true, we've go a few hours to get other stuff done.  I can't remember when we've ever had this much rain in Baltimore in the month of May.
