That's not what I said. I said I'd prefer seeing Odor at the league minimum again to paying Adam Frazier $8 million and getting the production Frazier has provided. I hated Odor last season and would never want him back. But I despise the Frazier signing even more. Especially considering Frazier has blocked Ortiz and Westburg for the entire season.

O's Hangout is the ultimate place where people put words in your mouth. It's super annoying. Now I just need DirtyBird to come in and drop a one-liner of pure nonsense.

I apologize if I mistook what you said by reading another's comment. I was wondering why another would want Odor over Frazier. Now saying that, I disagree with you because I would not want Odor on this team at any price tag in any role. We obviously agree on Frazier's salary and him blocking in my opinion, better overall players, but he's been fine overall.

I still would prefer Westburg playing pretty much everyday at 2B and Frazier off the bench.

I’m a university of Washington student and one of my friends works for the mariners. He said Frazier was always killing and craving cigarettes. Always leaving to go smoke one. That’s probably why he looks so nuts at the end of games when they extend his time in between cigs with a forced interview

Strange to think of a professional athlete's these days smoking cigarettes, but I'm sure there are some.

Here's where my mind is with Adam Frazier right now -

He's performed well enough to garner interest from other teams that may have a need at the deadline.  If we are able to get anything for him of value, even some younger, talented minor league filler, I think Elias has to pull the trigger on that.........because otherwise, Frazier is gone at year end anyway and we've gotten nothing.

Of course, you only do this if you ("Elias") feel that Ortiz and/or Westburg will sufficiently backfill Frazier's production.

Thoughts??

If Elias isn't willing to play the rookies now, I doubt he'd be willing to trade our veteran starting 2B at the deadline and go with the rookies in the 2nd half of a pennant race.  I think it's much more likely he trades one of the prospects for a veteran.  I'm not saying I agree, just my guess at what Elias might do.  For the record, I'd much prefer 6 years of Westburg than 2 more months of Frazier.

There are tons of pictures back in the day of players smoking in the dugouts before games. It's just surprising to hear about or see a professional athlete smoking cigarettes in this day in age when it's been so ostracized from our public social areas.

Agreed.  Even when I see someone smoking a cigarette today, I think to myself "People still do that?"

But when you see a professional athlete just not giving a ****....I dunno.  It's like "Yeah, I'm a top tier athlete, I can do this and get away with it, you probably can't."

Probably not dont see us being sellers at the deadline, unless that has us bringing something back that helps the the Major League team (bullpen, maybe first base) but Minor League depth no.

    • DC doesn’t give a lot of sports radio coverage to the Orioles, but veteran DC radio sportscaster Andy Pollin devotes half an hour to the O’s every Wednesday at 10:30 am. He’s the opposite of a “hot take” guy and an enjoyable pro to listen to.   He also gets good guests.   You can find an archive of his interviews here: recent guests have included Ryan Fuller, Ben Wagner, Brendan Fournie, Kyle Bradish (pre-injury) and Cody Ashe.  Albert Suarez will be on today - that should be interesting after last night’s debacle.   Just thought some might be interested in checking this out if you’re tired of Baltimore sports radio coverage.
    • Our WS run this year began to sink last year. Felix, continued with Bradish, Means Wells and Coloumbe. Thats 5 pretty nice pitchers right there. Only so much you can put together at the deadline. That coupled with Holliday's rough start and Mayo not even getting a chance. We need a couple of nice Pitchers, the guys to break out of slumps and a spark from the youngster (Kjerstad, Mayo and Holliday) And getting Danny Back would be nice too.
    • The time is quickly drawing to a close. We have less than a week now before the deadline. I’m sure that if Mayo/Holliday remain in the org, they will be called up soon. But if we don’t fix this pitching problem, I am not sure how much it is going to matter. We are near the bottom of the league in terms of runs allowed per game for almost a month. And have been routinely lit up by weak hitting/struggling opponents (like last night).  I don’t care how well you hit, it is unlikely that you can sustain success/winning giving up over 5 runs a game. Until that changes we are going to have a hard time putting together sustained winning streaks regardless of how outs offense performs. Which good team is has a great ranked offense but is well below average when it comes to runs per game allowed? I can’t think of a single team who is built to succeed by frequently out scoring opponents in high scoring games.
    • A question I have is how much does this Mateo injury affect our trade deadline? If he's out for the season, Holliday is definitely off the block because they need coverage at 2B/SS. Norby is here for now since they're still playing it safe with Holliday's injury. But what if Holliday struggles again, they might want to keep Norby around just in case.  So it kind of feels like Mateo's injury takes Norby off the block when he was a really good bet to help nab a pitcher.
    • Urias has a 1.016 OPS  in 31 PA's in July, so he's actually been one of the better hitters this month.
    • I wonder if it is fair to guess between Skubal and Crochet that Dodgers capacity to absorb and write off Javier Baez gives Friedman an edge on Elias for Skubal, but the White Sox being a multi-year rebuild needing to broaden its talent base give Elias an edge on Friedman for Crochet. Crochet doesn't have the innings platform, but pedigree and overall health, he has some advantages on Skubal. ESPN David Schoenfield's guess this morning is Crochet to Orioles is one of the market setting dominoes. https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/40625692/mlb-trade-deadline-2024-dominoes-market-crochet-robert-flaherty-arozarena Flaherty LAD, L. Robert PHI, Fedde HOU, Scott NYY, Rooker KCR, Arozarena ATL, Eflin MIN, Finnegan SEA some of the other guesses. Jazz Chisholm to Orioles seems like a very poor guess to me.
    • Love the 12-6 type curve over the sweeper.  Looks good.   Hopefully, the 89-92 becomes 92-95, or better, as he gets experience and stronger. So we have Luna, Mejia, and Espinosa, all 17, starting and doing well. Some interesting 18-19 like Morfe and Rasquin. And apparently some projects that have good arms and no control.
