Bad bad news. Not surprising, but terrible news. I think a deal could be worked out for Soriano for little of nothing even with the Cubs eating a good portion of the contract, I would do it if we didn't absorb the contract. Clearly something needs to be done. Chavez is awful.

That might actually be palatable. Most scenarios involving acquiring a 36-year-old left fielder who's owed $40M and just OBP'd .296 last year are so horrifying that they're unsuitable for children under 13.

Chavez isn't ideal, but he does play good D and has been heating up a little bit offensively lately. I wouldn't want to add Soriano unless the Cubs eat most of that salary.
