Somehow I missed that Jason Hamill signed a one year deal with the Cubs. I usually read the Baltimore Sun on-line most days and don't recall seeing anything about this. I just went back through 17 pages of OH threads and didn't see anything on it either. I am a bit surprised that the Orioles could afford to lose Hamill, who I believe when healthy would be their best starter other than Tillman. Was anybody here upset over this. I confess, I find it rather unsettling and I am disappointed over losing Jason...

No not me.

Given the addition of Jiminez and the way Matusz, Britton, and Gausman are developing, I think if the O's miss Hammel it will mean that something has gone very wrong.

I was interested in signing him to close, but not for the rotation. He just doesn't stay healthy or consistently at his best for the rotation. Now, I'm glad we have Stinson and Meek instead.

If Hammel can regain his 2012 form he'll be a steal for the Cubs. I kept waiting for him to regain his form last year, but he never did. I wish him the best, but I was OK with moving on.

Frobby I wish Jason the best also. I liked him. But just not a need for the O's. IMO

Last year, Kevin Gregg.

This year, Jason Hammel.

Next year, who knows ??? maybe T. J. McFarland.

We're simply destined to be known as the franchise of "Ones that got away."

Jake Arrieta ...... who hasn't given up a hit in spring training.

You really know how to hurt a guy, don't you Weams?

Wasn't he also already injured? I'm not sure he's even thrown a ST inning yet.

Jake Arrieta (shoulder) threw a side session Wednesday.

The Cubs will to wait to see how his right shoulder responds before deciding the next step. The most likely progression is to throw live batting practice, but it's unclear when that might happen. Arrieta will almost certainly start the year on the disabled list. Mar 12 - 7:13 PM

It also occurs to me that this may have been your point, weams. :)

Apparently, that BP session actually happened. Arrieta said he was at around 80% with his pitches, which I assume means that they started somewhere near a mound and landed in the general vicinity of a polygonal, rubber slab.
