Buy Low Kris Medlen?

Too bad. Orioles not in on this type of transaction. This deal is a classic low risk, high return possible.

IMHO, considering the O's rotation, it's not the opportunity destination anymore. Someone wanting to re-establish his career is going to look for a spot where he's more likely to get a chance.

MLBTR's arbitration salary estimates for Medlen and Beachy were $5.8MM and $1.5MM, respectively. The Braves, who knew them best, opted to non-tender them.

KC will pay Medlen $2MM to rehab this year and hopefully come back in the 2nd half. It is next year's $5.5MM, along with the $1MM buyout of the $10MM 2017 option (total $6.5 guaranteed) that is riskier, IMO.

Not much risk, and a hell of a lot of reward here. Remember that Medlin has a nice track record in the bullpen and the rotation. Wow, The new Kansas City Royals are in it to win it. They told there fanbase from the start that they would most likely not be able to bring back James Shields and that they were not going to bring back Aoki. They said they would see if they could strike a deal with Billy Butler. They could not. But, they made the statement that they would have a better team for 2015 than the AL Champs from 2014 and they have backed that up. Here in Royals country the fans are very happy with the direction of this team.
