I like the way Buck is using Britton in the 8th inning this year

I'm glad Buck isn't feeling the need to hold Britton back until the 9th inning when he feels a need to shut down some guys in the 8th. That's the fourth time this year he's gone to Zach in the 8th, and Zach has done the job all four times (though one was in a game the Orioles were losing by a run). Zach has plenty of experience pitching multiple innings and I'm very comfortable letting him get 5 outs when necessary.

I'd feel better about it if I thought it was part of an overall change in strategy and not done out of desperation.

Eh. Darren got the first RHer. Lefty came up, Brach or Zach? I think it was the situation, not desperation.

Winning run at the plate. What were Buck's choices? O'Day was used in a bases loaded jam the prior inning. If Hunter hadn't played the night before, I still wouldn't bring him out there.

We need a lefty specialist.

Also extended O'Day. Unfortunately I think can_of_corn is right. This had more to do with lack of confidence in our other options than anything else. This is where it really hurts not having Gausman in the bullpen. I was really hoping he could be that extra 7th/8th shutdown arm. I wouldn't mind if they brought him back as a reliever for that purpose.

Get ready for the 24 man roster!
