Dipoto out as Angel's GM

It really is amazing with the amount of payroll flexibility and having the best player in the universe over the last 4 years that they haven't done better than they have. There has to be some type of huge gap between the coaching staff and the front office.

Makes me feel very lucky that the Orioles have what looks to be a well oiled machine when it comes to communication and respect within the organization.

"He's definitely out," a Major League Baseball source with knowledge of the situation said of Dipoto. Two baseball sources said Dipoto resigned his position Tuesday, although the Angels offered no immediate confirmation. Dipoto did not return a text message seeking comment.

They talked about this during the Os broadcast last night. Surprised how bad it had gotten. I laugh because Pujols apparently told DiPoto that there weren't enough good players on the team. Between that comment and Streets comment they truly have a bunch of "winners" over there.

I worry that something similar could happen in Baltimore. Buck (like Scioscia) seems to wield more influence than most managers. If Duquette leaves before Buck, I think we could end up with a toothless GM that could set the team back.

Possibly, but I think Brady would be about ready to become the GM at that point and I think Brady and Buck seem to work together pretty well. ...from what I can tell with having no real insight whatsoever :)

You got to love it when the highest paid player on a team complains about how there wasn't enough money spent on players.

Do you honestly think Angelos supports Dan over Buck?

I know for a fact that question was asked to Mr. Angelos by perspective GM's. I know what that answer was too.

Wish Mr. Angelos a happy and healthy 86th birthday on July the 4th.
Crasnick tweeted that strife between Dipoto and manager Mike Scioscia had only increased since Rosenthal reported earlier this week that the two again weren’t getting along (after having also had significant disagreements in 2012). Crasnick also indicated that Dipoto approached Angels owner Arte Moreno with an ultimatum that “backfired.”
Rosenthal is one powerful dude.

I think it is a hell of a lot closer than it would be with a new GM that didn't have Dan's pedigree and that wasn't in charge when Buck was winning. This is the main reason I don't want Dan to leave.
