Excellent write-up!   I can't quite tell what we have in Long.   In 2015 he pitched limited innings and was very so-so at Delmarva.   The next year he made 3 dominant starts and was promptly promoted to Frederick, where he did so-so as a member of the rotation.   This year he's had a mix of starts and relief appearances at Bowie, and has looked good though his strikeout totals are low.   He'll be interesting to follow.

This was my first time seeing him and in this three inning stint, his stuff was very good. Honestly, it's the best stuff I've seen so far this season out of any of our prospects. It's a little unusual how they've used him.   He's made two starts and done well in both, one in April (5.2 IP, 1 R) and one last week (7.0 IP, 2 R).     He's also had some very long relief appearances (5.1 IP, 1R and 4.0 IP, 0 R).    Of course, they only really have four regular starters (Barker, Hess, Means, Grimes) because they're starting Tanner Scott every fifth day for 3 innings.    I thought maybe Long's two longest relief outings were from piggybacking Scott, but they're not.    I'll be interested if you hear anything else about what their plan is with Long.

Is it me, or would Long and Wright be strong candidates to have Brad Brach type careers if they were permanently moved to the bullpen?  Wouldn't their fastballs likely be in the 95-96 MPH range?  

Long's not a big SO guy, but his minor league career so/w ratio is over 4.  If Tanner Scott gets in that range, he'll be in the majors quicker than you can snap your fingers.
