I think Buck just likes stretching his starters as long as possible, far longer than most people on this board would, and that the 5th inning is often the nexus of that decision. So it seems like he is managing for the win, but he is really just trying to squeeze that extra inning out of the toothpaste tube. On Saturday night, that inning was the 7th. Tonight it will be the 5th.

Like most fans on here, I am usually hoping he will yank the starter sooner than he ends up doing. But his results are pretty good overall. And if he actually yanked people when the first calls of "get him out" start up on this board... by the end of the year our bullpen arms would fall off and they would be shot for the next year too.
