Tough crowd with Miranda. The guy has something. A lefty that can throw 94 with multiple breaking pitches. Easily the best lefty I've seen out of our pen since the good Matusz, not counting Britton.

ERA is out the window with these AAA shuttle guys because we are using them to eat innings. Miranda as a LOOGY would be a good fit, with this pitching staff we can't afford to do that. He's a lot better than Duensing, Tolliver, Drake and Roe. I think he's a nugget come September. He's just not going to be the savior of our starting pitching woes.

Buck's postgame comments were not exactly a ringing endorsement. Needed someone to give us length.Never said he was pitching that great but next man standing.

Despite Miranda's struggles in his third inning of work, I liked what I saw.

I liked what I saw early on too. As Weams says, this guy is a seasoned veteran, not a developing youngster. I hope there is some tweak that we can do to get him over the hump though.

We're in desperate need of starters who can give us a chance to win games when Tillman and Gausman aren't starting. The guy who I think can do that is Bundy. I would start him with a goal of getting 4 innings out of him, or 5 if he can be real efficient. We're only getting 4-6 innings, with a bunch of runs scored, from the other candidates. With Bundy we might get some leads in he middle innings that we can keep, or at least not fall as far behind.

The replay showed Manny playing fairly close and he charged the bunt.....no way he could cover third....don't see how it could have been his fault.
So should Ubaldo (or JJ) have covered 3rd while Manny was charging the bunt?

According to what I've heard and read, Manny should have seen Ubaldo coming in to field the bunt and should have stayed and covered 3rd base. Or else Hardy could have covered 3rd base. Are you saying that Ubaldo should have covered 3rd base?
Of course not. Before the pitch Manny was well in looking for the bunt. Davis was back holding t e runner. So 3B coverage should have been Hardy IMO.

He showed enough for me to give him a chance.

1. He can't be any worse than what we've been getting from the #4 and #5 spots

2. He threw strikes.

3. He works fast

4. His last 3 starts at Norfolk were lights out

5. #1

ABJ...... Why not? Give him the ball Friday.
