End of Year Top 30

Yes, the MiL season isn't totally over yet. And yes, this possibly could have gone in one of the other Top 30 threads. But then no one would have read it :)

My list, with the occasional comment:

1. Harvey - still tops for me even with the injuries

2. Mountcastle

3. Sedlock

4. Sisco

5. Mancini

6. Peralta

7. B. Gonzalez - think people are sleeping on him just a bit, put up a good season at Delmarva and still quite young for the league

8. Akin

9. Dietz - Very little to go off of with Akin and Dietz, I slotted them together and put the higher draft pick first :)

10. Tanner Scott

11. Hays

12. Liranzo - Based almost solely off of Tony's report

13. Peluffo

14. Reyes - Big drop from last year, hoping his struggles are due to hamate injury

15. Wells

16. Stewart - Probably should be higher, but I'm still not sold

17. Mullins

18. Walker

19. Mosely

20. Kline - Probably too high, but I'm hoping he rebounds and shows the velocity he had before surgery

21. McKenna

22. Ortega

23. Mercedes - Yes, he has no position and is too old and the good doctor says there are some off the field issues. But the dude can hit.

24. Heinrich

25. Hess - Another huge drop. Hoping this was just a bad season for him.

26. Murphy

27/ Gassaway - Wouldn't even have been considered a month ago. Probably just a hot month at Delmarva, but he earned a spot I think.

28. Lee - Just not all that high on him.

29. Marin

30. Palmeiro

Others ? Drake, Gunkel, Yaz, Garcia, Leyva, Ferguson, Fenter, Curran, Bridwell, Cleavinger

Off the map - Hart - has shown pretty much nothing in 3 years now. Draft pick status no longer justifies his inclusion.

Tanner Scott is a complete mess at Bowie with the walks and hits and apparently lacks a quality secondary pitch. I wouldn't have him anywhere near my top ten.

Gassaway has to be a lot higher despite coming out of nowhere over the last two months. Early results on Dietz are not good, so that's going to affect his ranking for me. Reyes is still a top ten guy in my opinion due to age and power potential. Not a bad list otherwise, but I'm going to wait until the minor league season is actually over to post mine.

Bridwell was called up to the Orioles, which is a good sign.

Surprised that Cole Billingsly isn't on there. Was an All Star with Wells in the Aberdeen system.

He probably should be in my "others" list.

Your concerns about Scott certainly are valid, but he's a high draft pick with a big arm, and I've got him at 10, not like he's top 5.

I'm comfortable with where Gassaway is for now considering how little he did before July of this year. Hopefully he keeps hitting next year and moves up the charts.

I have no idea what to make of Akin or Dietz yet. Total guesses there on both, pretty much based on draft position/bonuses.

And Reyes seems to be a 1B at this point who had quite a bad year offensively. Again, hopefully the injury bothered him and he shoots back up next year.

1.35 ERA and 21 K's in 20 innings for Akin. 4.61 ERA and 6 k's (8 walks) in 13 innings for Dietz.

Small sample size. But I think we can make something out of it.

Not having Gunkel and Meisenger is criminal. They are top 12-15 at least. Cleavinger is top 20. Grimes, Acquino and Barker are in the top 30.

Just like the mlb list, you have way too many recent draft picks on there. I'd post mine but like you said there are other threads for that.

Gunkel is on my watch list. Meisinger probably should be. I wouldn't have either of them near the 12-15 range. I'm comfortable with I've slotted (or not slotted) the others you've mentioned.
