There's something very strange about this. I've commented on this a bunch of times in the past couple years. The Orioles spend freely on veteran player salaries, sometimes resembling the drunken sailor of MLB. But they're ridiculously, stupidly, self-destructively cheap as far as pretty much everything else is concerned.

I would have tried to sell high on Norris and traded him after the 2014 season.

To offset salary.... 2.5 million to cover some of Hellicksons 7 million left.

Could we be costing BOS their guy?  They might've been in on Hellickson with Pride going down. They don't have international slots to trade like us.

The way Hellickson has pitched this year, I would've gladly let him go to the Red Sox.

I'd rather try to trade Castillo to the Rockies or another team that needs a catcher for the playoffs.
