I'd have pushed the kids.

Well, yeah, I've been asking for Hays in every thread since the season started.   But, if Buck needs his veteranosity, couldn't we sign a good one?

What is the best possible (hypothetical) defensive the team the O's could field right now while staying competitive?

I say

C - Joseph

1B - Mancini

2B - Schoop

SS - Manny

3B - Beckham

LF - Santander

CF - Jones

- RF - Hays

What say you?

Is Wynns better than Joseph on D? Would a Manny/ Beckham switch show any significant change? Would you put Hays or Mullins in CF and move Jones to RF.  Maybe Mullins in LF over Santander? We'll see how we feel after a few weeks of minor league ball.

They said on the pregame that buck DH Rasmus because if you want to pinch hit for Rasmus and he was in the field,  you'd have to make two moves (one to play field) vs one if he is at DH.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

You sign a guy who had 1.8 defensive WAR in the outfield in his last full season and you have him as a DH. And instead have a guy who was negative 1.2 defensive WAR in the outfield.   And the reason given is because Valencia can't play the outfield.   But first off why have both Valencia and Alvarez on the team if neither can play in the field.   Also who cares?   Pinch hit for Colby and put Gentryin the field.   I am beginning to think Buck has lost his mind.

Best setup to limit opponents runs is easy:

C - Joseph

1B - Davis

2B - Schoop

SS - Beckham

3B - Manny

LF - Gentry/Jones

CF - Jones/Gentry

RF - Rasmus
