Please Retire, Chris Davis

This has gotten beyond embarrassing.  Save some face and don’t embarrass yourself or the Orioles franchise any more.

This franchise is broken with you under contract and cannot be fixed.

You owe it to the fans to at least change your batting stance or something, but this is beyond pathetic.

This franchise deserves better.

Doesn't he forfeit the remaining money if he retires? So no chance.

I could stand being embarrassingly bad at my job for 70 million...

Is there any other way out of this? I don’t know enough about baseball contracts, but it just feels like he would save himself the suffering.

I just don’t get it, though.

Change your batting stance.

Take some pitches.

Bunt.

Hit right handed.

DO SOMETHING Chris.

Chris Davis: Hey skip, my back has been bothering me. Might be a 7 year long injury to heal from.

In principle, Davis and the Orioles could negotiate a buyout--Davis agrees to retire and the O's agree to pay him some fraction of what he is owed.  The only reason Davis would want to do this is that he could spend more time with his family and be spared the indignity of continuing to play poorly.

Otherwise, the O's either have to cut him and pay him every penny, or keep him around and pay him every penny.

What if you had already made 100 million?  Would it be worth it then?

What if you only had to put up with the boos for another three and a half years then you would get another +/- $100 million and people would forget you 15 minutes later and you still had half your life ahead of you?  Would that be worth it?
