I'm sure they are sending some cash as well but that won't hurt them.

Andrew Friedman is the best GM in baseball currently. There isn't a team in baseball more set up than the Dodgers especially if they ink Betts long term. Has the best roster in the league, arguably the best farm system in the NL and has been able to keep payroll very manageable. Verdugo will be good but I'd be pretty disappointed if I was a Sox fan. The guy they got from the Twins is intriguing but it seems as though MN views him as a reliever.

Rosenthal on MLB just now said he thought Red Sox paying about half the Price remainder.

So 7/217, Red Sox got about 600 innings for the ~ 4/123 and now ~0/48 to make the rest go away.

Is this a tea leaf Sale is shaky?  Sure Graterol and Verdugo will give them some more surplus value these next few years, but this is dismantling a championship caliber roster for....reasons.

JD may have a little extra juice to make his next opt out pay, Bradley/Vazquez will enter FA in a stronger negotiating position, and Sale/Xander/Devers figure to be a little salty as camps open.

Verdugo looks like he's a pretty good player.  And he looks like a douchebag, too...so he'll fit in well in Boston, at least from that perspective.  I'll like this trade a lot more if he crashes and burns.

Seems like the Dodgers were able to get under the luxury tax because of this. 

LAD - seems crazy, but they get under the luxury tax, get Betts, and get a discounted David Price that should flourish in the NL West. 

Min - Gets a steady #3 SP for pitching prospect.
