How so?

Rob, It wouldn't matter!

2) Its fair to say whatever you want about what you think he will or wont be. I should have the same right. Some guys don't want to say or here anything negative about the Orioles, Elias, Angelos, the draft process, Poor trade return, penny pinching, and just bad decisions.

  • I hated the return for Cashner, the same type issue happened as in this thread
  • I hated that we gave Villar away for little (I don't want to debate it here again)
  • I wasn't impressed with last years draft (Anyone could have made the AR pick)
  • I'm not happy with this draft! (I've rested my case)

Anyone of these subjects have resulted in heated debates!

If he hits .270 w/ 35 Homers and 85+ RBIs he ends up being a very good pick and you could probably be happy even if Martin ends up being Pedroia or something close.

3) It wouldn't matter except the Orioles as recently as a few years ago had a ton of those guys. It resulted in a lot pf games where we couldn't score due to too many guys having high K rates. Thats why I have been an advocate for high AVG/OBP guys.

The Orioles haven’t had any of those of those guys.

My god man, calm down.

SG is completely correct. I have no problem with your opinion, but you don't necessarily seem open to people with differing opinions yourself and you present things with such certainty when nobody knows what is going to happen. Hell, Austin Martin would probably look at some of the stuff you've posted and think "man, that guy is really confident in me." But whatever, who cares? We'll find out in due time.

But you just keep shouting at people. Constantly. When things are presented in that way, it's impossible to have useful dialogue. I know...welcome to the internet.

Any of what guys ??? High average and OBP or High HR/Ks?

HIGH OBP ... Villar was that guy, at least last year. And he was traded for scraps as an alternative to giving him a new contact.

1) What are you talking about?

I am willing to listen to any opinion from anyone. But, I'm not changing my mind anymore or less than any of the guys that love the draft approach. I just deal with the teaming up since most are on the Elias side of this discussion.

2) What have I said thats so absurd?

  •      I've said he was the BPA ...Most outlets agreed with me
  •      Another post compared his skill set to Lou Whitaker and I compared him to Pedroia. I think he has a shot to be that type of player. I've openly admitted that 2/3 of the prospects in RD 1 will likely fail. No one knows for sure on any of these guys

3) I'm not shouting at anyone....Just go back and look at the behavior.

Poster ..... RT you are not understanding the draft approach    (REP give by 2-3 posters)

RT .....        I get it, But I prefer BPA and think Martin was the BPA

Poster  ..... But, Kjerstad is in a bucket of 5 players with Martin that were ranked really close (Rep by 2-3 posters)

RT .... I don't agree that they were that close  (Bad REP from a guy who never posts)

Poster ..... I trust Elias that he took the BPA and like the way the draft went (REP, REP , REP)

RT .....       He went cheap with the 1st round selection in order to draft the High School kids in round 4/5 and give them 1+ million each

Poster .... Cant you see that Elias like Kjerstad better?

RT ..... I believe he did it for the the savings. I believe he likes Kjerstad but I don't believe that he believes Kjertsad is the better propsect. Here is an article that quotes him as saying money savings wasn't the only reason

Poster..... Why can't you get it that its a great strategy ...He drafted the better player and two guys with high upside (rep. rep, rep)

***** I know you think Im exaggerating ...But go back and read the whole thread *******

I believe they would simply go get a beer with you if you offered. They'd like you too.

Maybe this thread would have been more productive if it went more like this:

Kjerstad is #99 on the BA list.

Yep, Martin is higher, wish they'd taken him instead.

Well, the strategy was to take the cheaper player so the overall draft class might be stronger.

Sure, but I'm not convinced it'll work out.

Yea, nobody really is.

Wanna get a beer?

Sure.

One of the best posts I've seen in awhile, and I don't drink beer (or alcohol at all). :D☝️

You said they had many of those players, with reference to my description of Kjerstad.

They haven’t had 260/330/550, 35 homer, high K players.

You are absolutely correct!! I posted about this earlier in this thread. Unfortunately, you can be one of those posters. I respect your arguments but, you seem (at least to me) to have a need to "win" a discussion. We are all usually talking in opinion and the hypothetical. There is no "winning."
