32 year-old veteran Matt Harvey is being asked to lead the young, rebuilding Orioles to a 3rd consecutive victory this afternoon ...... the perennially contending Oakland Athletics have other ideas.

The home-plate umpire really squeezed Harvey in the 3rd inning ...... I don't think that he was as wild as his 3 Walks and/or his Strikes-to-Balls ratio might indicate.

I am starting to wonder if umps have been told to not call the ball at the knees.  It seems like most the time the pitches that are called balls but hit the zone are ones at the knees.  It seems like it has been that way league wide in the Orioles games but also few others I have caught on tv.

His next start, presumably, will be versus the resurgent Sawx from Beantown after an off day (6 days "rest").  Then five days hence, it will be against his former employers, the (Amazin') NY Metropolitans.  That will be "must see tv" in the NY environs (including Brewster, NY)!  ⚾

Hyde, plz play the Future, not the Past, as I said before the season started.  So Harvey wins a few games, or maybe not,  it is  meaningless, except to rob the possible Future of experience.

I'm pretty sure Hyde is using the players he's been given. A good portion of the young guys have not taken advantage of their opportunities either.

Well...

It was fun while it lasted?

Back to back rough starts and his velocity is back down to 92 after flirting with 96 the first few starts.

He wasn’t that bad last time.  He catches the grounder to first covering and he is through 4 with zero runs allowed.
