The second guessing Hyde thread.

The unwavering faith he has in Hicks and Frazier blows my mind.

And to not pinch run Mateo for Hicks in the seventh inning, only to put him in the game defensively in the eighth inning was weird. Aaron hicks is not Willie Mays out there. Give me a break.

Hyde's faith in Hicks has been rewarded with a team-leading .381 OBP and good situational hitting. He's also better in the OF than O'Hearn or Kjerstad. As for Frazier, throughout the season a lot of prominent posters here who originally ridiculed him have come to trust Frazier as much as anyone in late-inning clutch situations.

Hicks should be replaced by Mateo as a pinch runner in the 7th inning 100% of the time.

Granted Frazier had some timely hits. But he’s not very good, the stats draw that out pretty clearly.

True and true.  Bringing in Mateo to just field negates that only real value he has,  his speed on the bases.  And having Frazier get 3 at bats while Westburg only got one is silly too.  Frazier isn't good,  and his defense sucks.  Then throw in some of the bullpen decisions (Bradish pulled too soon, trusting in Webb, etc), the steal by Gunnar that looks like it was Hydes call or a miscommunication  that may rest on Hyde too, Hyde goofed today. Not saying it cost us the game,  but it sure didn't help.

Issue with that is O’Hearn plays RF.

Was it a hit & run or not? It would explain why Gunnar ran there despite having a terrible jump. The biggest issue is the lineup is still cold and five hits are not going to be enough against the Rangers unless those hits are all home runs.

Has to be. Gunnar flat out said he was sent.

Hyde says miscommunication. 2+2=4.

Yes,  some have said he gives professional at bats and usually puts the ball in play.   None of which changes the fact he's hitting .240 with a sub 700 OPS and the earlier power seems to have disappeared.  And his defense is poor.  As to clutch, well I'm not touching that one again, beyond saying it's not a repeatable 'skill'.

Gunnar is saying he sent him. Seemed pretty sure of himself. Plus he looked back.

All I am saying is if Gunnar missed sign he needs to own it.

If it was a hit and run, Hicks was the one who missed the sign. Gunnar saying that Hyde sent him would be consistent with a hit and run.
