Totally agree, I'd claim anyone/everyone, too.  I was more commenting on the lack of ability for us to develop guys compared to a system like Tampa's.

I’m sure a huge part is their player acquisition skill.

It’s truly remarkable how they have built that team.

In the past several weeks alone, Tampa has picked up Evan Phillips, Shawn Armstrong and Davis Hess.

They sure know how to acquire talent!!!

What was that Bear Bryant line?   Something like he'd take his and beat yours, and then he'd take yours and beat his.

I suppose if I wanted to max the cynicism, I'd wonder that if say some Orioles analyst had some discovery/insight from heat maps or whatever around how to get Wander Franco out, would that tactic even get deployment authorization in 2021?

Of course on the other side of that coin, they probably just have their pitchers running the ball into the middle of the line of scrimmage on our lineup.

Agreed. But, there's always the off chance that something was missed, not addressed in their org. This would be a cheap pickup, might turn into something.

I think the best thing we have available is opportunity. Tampa can't give games for a pitcher to develop.

We have games to give a pitcher to allow time to develop.

I'd generally look to claim guys from bad orgs rather than good ones. It's less likely that the Dodgers and Rays are missing out on talent than the O's and Diamondbacks. So it's not surprising to me that I've been reading about three top teams (White Sox, Dodgers and Rays) picking up our cast aways. I wonder if that says something about their assessment of our player development?
