I'm guessing that we were not a factor at all. I doubt that Tex ever wanted to sign here, and his interest in us was strictly a way to get the price tag up for whoever signed him.

I used to be interchangeable with the Sox and Yanks when I would refer to either one as "Greedyguts". But heck with that! The Yankees have earned that title all by their lonesome. The team that eats and eats and eats up free agents and never gets full.
