I thought  Ian eagle’s first name is pronounced ‘eye-ann’, but Roy pronounced it ‘eee-an’.  Is Roy wrong?

too bad Kevin is a Yankees fan — yuck!  But I’ll forgive him, sort of.

i thought his first broadcast while in college was just fine.  Not sure why he was embarrassed by it.

He definitely always pronounces it as "eye-an".

Thanks for sharing Roy. A nice interview and you can tell Kevin (like most successful broadcasters I imagine) is putting a lot of care into the craft.

I tell you what, this sure shows you the difference in quality between professional microphones and a webcam over Zoom. Kevin's voice sounds so much different and less announcery here!

Great interview!

I love Kevin. He's goofy sometimes but I like that. He's genuine and he's passionate. I'm 29, so maybe he just resonates with me more due to being a similar age. But I actually get even more happy than I already am to watch our games when he's on the call. I enjoyed Thorne as well but I like Kevin Brown more.

I hope he's our lead announcer for a long, long time. My dad, along with others, always say the good announcers, when you hear their voice, make you feel like you're listening to a close friend even when you don't 'know' them personally. I always knew what he meant but I can't really say I've actually felt it myself, until Kevin Brown.

Can we keep him, Pa?

Seriously though, he has a command of the game yet there is an affable, easy/casual style that -- while the Os are winning -- increases a smile on my face when listening. His youthfulness hopefully means he can be the voice of dem Os for a long long time.

In recent memory, the present day option of Brown and McDonald are at least as good as Thorne and Palmer were at their peak together. Different, sure, but augmenting the game in very positive ways for the fan at home.

Yeah, Brown is good.  Most importantly he lets you know what is happening accurately.  Seems like he's toned down the pop-culture references a bit.  Less is more, as they say.

Ha I always like the pop culture references, especially when he's asking Ben about them and Ben's like, "I have no idea what you're talking about".

I haven't done a lot of interviews of broadcasters since my ESPN days, but I've been so impressed with the Orioles lead play-by-0play man, Kevin Brown, I wanted to hear his story, and get some of his insights. This is a really offbeat and wacky interview but it tells the story of a come-lately ambition that evolved into a passion, and then behind a microphone...I think this young man, just 32, will become one of the finest at the mic in his generation...and he's our Oriole lead broadcaster...finally!

Loved this immensely - Kevin is as real as they come!  Wonderful job of drawing out all of the details!  I was shocked to hear him mention the town where I grew up - Baldwin, NY.  My mother used to stop and say prayers at St. Christopher’s on her way to work every day.  I used to play stickball behind the church in the summers.  And Syracuse - my first wife grew up there and we were married in Hendrick’s Chapel on campus.  As an aside, I was there (but not as a student) when Floyd Little, Csonka, Bing and Boeheim were.  Thanks again!
